| Giving
young people every opportunity to develop their full potential
lies at the heart of many Club programmes.
In 2003, the Trust donated HK$2.99 million for the Hong Kong
New Generation Cultural Association to organise the Hong Kong
Youth Science and Technology Invention Contest and to send students
to participate in overseas contests over a three-year period.
Trust funds built a "Model Primary School" in Tai Po
for some 600 students to improve the quality of teachers and students.
The school, now named the Hong Kong Institute of Education Jockey
Club Primary School, has the mission of optimising each child's
potential through the shared joy of teaching and learning. It
opened in February 2004.
Twenty-one Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholars
graduated in 2004, the third group to do so while the Alumni Association
marked its second year. The Trust is proud of these talented young
people and believes that its HK$102 million Scholarship Scheme
will help nurture a group of bright and community-minded youths.
